thank God for humor

I saw this today. It made me forget about the illness crap for a moment.

"sudo" is the linux command for running a program as superuser, i.e. an administrator who has escalated priveleges.

Hi Niniane

All the best from germany. Hope you are well (as well as you can be).

"escalated priveleges"? YM "elevated privileges".

How little it takes to become a dotcom millionaire/GOOG poster child/blogolebrity.

^^^^^anonymous seems quite green (with envy) ^^^^^^ How about a little courtesy? After all, aren't we all guests here?

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles, Niniane. I hope it all turns out well.

Regarding that cartoon, I have it on a shirt. Like a lot of my geek-wear, I tend to save it to wear around people as dorky as I am.

This shirt, though, turns out to be unexpectedly popular with civilians. People just read the first two lines and think that it's funny, ignoring the rest. The guys at my favorite sandwich shop loved it. The downside: when I ordered my lunch, I ended up having to step behind the counter and make it myself.

I like to imagine Anonymous's sneering posts delivered in Comic Book Guy's voice.

Or, if you remember the one-shot guy in Futurama's "300 Big Boys" episode, the one who was going on and on about the Spiderians, that's a good one too.

You should at least give credit to the source... http://xkcd.com/c149.html

russell - she probably saw it on a t-shirt... not the site...

So Pjammer points to your blog, and this is usually a good thing. And then I find my favorite XKCD comic. I think I'm in love.

Backstory: Three weeks ago I have a presentation to a potential monster client, which is worth multiples of millions. *THIS* comic is the default background for the remote monitor on my MacBook. In the Q&A I sleep Keynote for a bit to pull up some QT video, and so forth. So this sudo comic is on screen for a minute, in the background, and the client asks, and you can't make this stuff up, "Is that supposed to be funny?"

My answer, "Only to the select."

And yes, dear, we closed the contract. Good luck with the shitstorm, may your umbrella catch the brown and your shoes remain spotless.
